Senior coach of FIDE, honored coach of Russia, doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor, author of the lecture course “Chess is a phenomenon of humanitarian culture of mankind” at St. Petersburg State University of Culture and Art. He is the author of more than 40 books and more than 300 articles on various problems of chess creativity and methods of studying chess. Director of the Junior Grand Prix of the European Chess Union.

1983 –present            Coach of 1999 world chess champion Alexander Khalifman. Among the students and wards are world vice champion Gata Kamsky, world champion in the team Konstantin Sakayev, grandmasters A. Kochiev, D. Komarov, M. Novik, M. Rychagov and others
